It is amazing how many women commit these "What not to do" errors on their first dates. It won't be you, after you are aware of these important first date mistakes.

Acting like this date is an inconvenience in your busy day...
We are all busy with our lives and it is necessary for you to arrange your schedule so you are rested and mentally ready for this date. A rushed, frazzled attitude with you arriving at the last-minute can be communicated by your body language, your tone of voice as well as what you say. Be careful you don't let him begin to think he is the last thing on your "important" agenda for the day.

Taking phone calls and text messages...
You won't impress him by taking so-called "important" calls while on your date or worse taking text messages and making him wait while you reply to the text. This kind of behavior is inexcusable and rude. He will be rightfully annoyed because he has taken his time, effort and money to take you out. Be sure to turn these devices off.

Being somewhere else in your thoughts...
It is insulting when your date is talking to you and you are somewhere else in your thoughts. Don't think you can fool him because he will pick up on it within seconds and resent you for it. He will think you are like this all the time and you will have lost him just that fast.

Talking about what a jerk your ex was...
This is a major mistake and should be given a wide berth. He should not be subjected to an extended bitter rant about all the injustices you suffered in your last relationship. He will think that if you talk about other men, you will talk about him the same way.

Drilling him about his past relationships...
Don't make this a police examination to be sure he isn't an ax murderer. Wait a reasonable period and get to know him online and by phone, before you meet him for the first time. This will cut down on your first dates from hell.

Asking personal questions on a first date...
Allow your date a reasonable amount of privacy about his personal life on your first date. Let him tell you about himself as he feels comfortable doing so. Don't ask him if he has a criminal record or any felonies in his past. If he does, he is unlikely to be honest with you. If you suspect this, you can check him out online at a number of sites.

Taking this much too seriously...
Lighten up! Don't stare at him like he is a bug on a microscope glass. As if he is someone who needs to be scrutinized closely to detect any evidence of deep-seated psychological or pathological illnesses. This is off-putting and may be your last date.

Talking too much and not listening...
This can be easily done if you are nervous and want to fill in any silent lapses in the conversation. Be aware that men like to talk about themselves and they will most likely be happy to tell you quite a bit if you draw them out with considerate questions. In this way you can learn things that you never thought to ask and this will give you the information you need to decide if you wish to pursue seeing this person.
