How To Be "Middle Age Cool"

Being "middle age cool" is easy. All you really have to do most of the time is think you are. That's my plan. Why shoot for being cool in middle age? Why not? I sure didn't want to hangout with my grandparents, but had they been different, not so stuffy, I would have liked being around them. I am sure they had many stories regarding their life experiences to tell, but they never did.

They pretty much ignored me, so I in turn ignored them. Needless to say, the "elder generation" was looked upon in my brain as alien creatures. Boring for sure. I sure don't want my future grandkids to view me that way.

So lets look at some definite things you should do and never do if you want to be cool.

1. Don't be a complainer. Have you ever gone out to dinner with another couple or friend, and they complain about everything? The service, the food, the time, it's a drag, and for sure not cool.

2. Wear what you like. Don't try and wear 4 inch heels, or name brand clothes to try and be cool. It's not.

3. On the other hand... don't turn 45 and wear granny clothes with blue hair. You don't need to seem like you have one foot in the grave.

4. Don't ever raise your voice. People who like to talk too loud and brag about themselves are obnoxious, not cool.

5. Never talk down to anyone. We are all equals and you should treat others as such.

6. Get a life. Be able to share in conversations. Have your own interests to talk about.

7. Be who you are. Never try and change being yourself when around others. It will come off fake.

8. Don't talk slang. Save that for teenagers.

9. Get in shape. It is hard to be cool when you waddle.

10. Have a good attitude. Nobody wants to hang out with a pessimist.

11. Be open-minded. The world is full of all types of interesting people. It's not cool to judge others.

12. Be more adventurous. Take notice of opportunities to add a little pizzaz. Take some risks, have fun. Don't be the stick-in-the-mud.

Age is a state of mind. You need to challenge yourself with new experiences. You need to test yourself no matter how old you are. The best gift you can give yourself and others is a sense of humor. You do that and for sure you will be "Middle Age Cool."

Remember if you ain't making any mistakes, then you ain't living large.
