Dating Again - Tips to Let Someone Know That You Are Interested

Starting again into the world of dating and new relationships can be rather daunting, especially after a break up. Making the effort to go where single, interesting people go can seem almost too much at first. However once we are ready to get back into the dating scene and start considering the possibility of a new friendship we can start looking forward to enjoying the fun of it all. Here are one or two guidelines that can help make it a success.

Go out with the attitude that you are going to have a pleasant time. This is your night out and is an opportunity to have fun, meet interesting people and enjoy yourself.
Dress with confidence. Remember the rule, you get one chance to make a first impression. What impression do you want to convey? Think about looking clean, smart, maybe professional, but fun too. Smart casual is often a look that goes well in most places. Clothes do not have to be expensive, but put together with flair or style. Ladies, a well thought out piece of fashion jewellery, or an unusual bag can be a useful and light conversation opener.
Be friendly. Good manners are important, even when talking with someone who does not interest you. It can take a lot of nerve to start a conversation with someone new who looks attractive. Remember that, and be kind and considerate if you are looking to end a conversation with someone who is unappealing to you.
Smile, but make sure it is a genuine smile. A fixed grin or one that instantly appears and stays on your face can look artificial and off-putting. A slow smile that lights up your whole face and is warm and welcoming is more real and is worth waiting for.
Eye contact is important. It can cause a real frisson of excitement when two people make a genuine connection, when there is chemistry between two people. Long enough eye contact, then look away. And body language. Lean towards a person you like when they are speaking to you. It demonstrates that you are interested in them and in hearing what they have to say.
Conversation. Be interested in what the other person has to say. Pay attention and listen with care. Ask questions, use their name. Enjoy finding out about someones' story. People feel flattered when someone is really interested in them.
Be interesting. A conversation is a two-way exchange, so interact with them using related anecdotes or information. Take the time to watch the news, see a latest film, visit an interesting place. That way you have a few ideas to contribute to make relevant topical conversations.
Be gracious. If you are given a compliment, smile and say 'thank you'. It is far more attractive that making a witty self deprecating comment about yourself. And keep some mystery. There is no mileage in volunteering all your dirty laundry in one go. You are looking for a date, not therapy.

By keeping a light touch you can have some fun meeting new people, maybe having a few dates and getting used to being out and about, enjoying being single and enjoying the new experiences that that can bring into your life.
