Online Dating - Mistakes Men Make in Their Profiles

Internet Dating, what a crazy phenomenon, we can now online 'shop' for a- mate! As fun as this seems, you know know what kills any attraction instantly, even through a computer screen? A really creepy profile. Or even just a little creepy. Men, if you even seem a little weird online, women will NOT be lining up to meet you. We all watch TV and are all scared of being the next news story. What's sad though, is that a woman will see a specific profile and write the man off immediately, but a man will see the same profile- and think he seems cool. Men are from Mars...

..Anyway, I have compiled a list of things we women very much wish that men would stop posting (unless you really are a weirdo, in that case keep doing so we can differentiate):

Your pictures:
While we understand that men find hunting fun, and you are very proud of that big buck you bagged- it really doesn't need to be featured in your profile picture. Actually that's just a turn off and for some women, a complete deal-breaker, so knock it off. In addition, if you joined a DATING site generally used for DATING, we don't need to see most of your body parts just yet. That includes, but is not limited to: faceless pictures of abs or tattoos on questionable body parts. Really. It's just scary.

Spelling and Grammar:
No Chatspeak/textspeak. While I may first be impressed that you know how to make a heart using symbols, I would also like to know that you can correctly spell three letter words. Generally we women would like to think of the man we are dating as smart. Intelligence is very attractive. Typing lik dys, cuz ur jus cool like dat.. not so much.

Your Expectations:
I know that you want to find the woman of your dreams, I totally get that. As it so happens, I'm looking for my very own Prince Charming. But if you are an overweight, jobless, fifty-five year old- it really isn't reasonable to be seeking a svelte, twenty-three year old to support you. Also, how you kindly listed out forty-three qualities you want in a woman, including a passion for laundry, sex, contact sports, and culinary mastery.. well, thanks for being so descriptive and organized! But don't be shocked when you get, um, no replies. Get real, mister.

Expecting Women to Have no Expectations:
Saying things like "I'm looking for a hot blond to cozy up to on this chilly Friday night, no strings attached", just makes me sad. I thought dating sites were instituted to help find a significant other, not a booty call. Isn't that what bars are for? And, anyway, I hate to break it to ya, Bigshot, while there are some daring, lonely hotties out there, this just isn't going to get overwhelming responses from the type of women you're propositioning.

Men, if you are really looking to successfully find a girlfriend via the internet, please just come up with a respectful, witty profile. Tell a little about yourself, be genuine. Be funny- women LOVE funny. Post a recent picture of your yourself-preferably your face, and don't be too pushy. You actually have to intellectually connect since you can't just base the connection off physical chemistry. That being said, online dating, what DID our grandparents do without the internet?!
