Why doesn't he call? This is the reasonable reaction divorced women have as they start dating again and don't get the response they want from the new love interest in their life.

Here are 5 reasons why those initial encounters don't add up to something more serious, and how to deal with disappointment.

Reason #1: He’s Having Trouble Being Honest… He is Seeing Someone!

Let’s face this is part of dating game. You are dating, he is dating. Often we meet and hit it off, trade numbers, talk for a while or trade emails, but he never seems to make the initiative to actually see you; then something else is going on. Men often have a hard time sharing the truth about their feelings. It very well could be he is seeing someone else.

Reason #2: He Was Just Looking for a Hookup

Although it seems like he really liked you, he really could be more interested in a casual encounter and senses you’re not that kind of girl. He’ll move on – maybe out of respect for you or his own selfish desires (you could be too much work). In either case, the timing is off. Not calling you back is his way of letting you know where he’s at without having to say it directly. Take heart; in this case he’s actually did you a favor for not calling.

Reason #3: He Was Just Being Nice

He may have enjoyed the conversation with you but really he is not interested in anything more. He asked for your number to be polite. Let’s face it we as women have given out our number hoping all along that he would not call or better yet we gave someone the wrong number to avoid talking to him again.

Reason #4: He Lost Interest

He was interested in you at first, but something happened along the way to change his mind…he went home…took a shower. Let’s face it he is just not that into you!

Reason #5: He Lost Your Number or Forgot to Call

Yes, sometimes this really happens. He lost your number, washed it in his jeans, his dog ate it, etc.

What we should do when he doesn’t call…..

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie - Don't interfere. Don’t call him! Sometimes we women like to follow up, but I think we will get our answer a lot quicker if we observe his (non-) behavior. Actions speak louder than words. Don't push or prod — even if you're just being casual or friendly. Just sit back and watch, he'll reveal how he truly feels. When a man is romantically interested in you, he will step up, it's really simple: just ignore everything they say, and only pay attention to what they do.

Don't analyze. You may never know why he didn’t call, but the reality is you do have all the information you need. He just isn’t the ONE!

Remember the saying…Noting Ventured Nothing Gained. It is his loss! For whatever reason he didn’t call, don’t second-guess yourself as his not calling has nothing to do with you but everything to do with him. He just may have done you a favor. You want a man to follow through, to step out of the box.

Keep your options open. The old saying you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your Prince is true. Keep your options open, practice dating. Dating can be fun! Surround yourself with what makes you happy as this is the biggest attraction of all. Keep your heart and mind open and when you least expect it he will step forward!
